Oonchi Hai Building, Lift Teri Band Hai :D

My great-great-great grandfather told his son that his great-great-great grandfather was friends with Uncle Darwin. Now, Uncle Darwin was a peculiar kind of a man. He, according to me, was a pessimist who believed that you will be wiped off the surface of the Earth If you don't change. Well, what he really propagated was the theory of natural selection and the survival of the fittest but what a lame person like me understands by it is that if you do not change with the changing world, you will soon be engulfed by obsolescence.
The easiest example that I can come up with is that of Nokia. The company failed to keep up with the technological changes and lost all its market share to android phones.
They say that the only constant thing in life is change! All is hunky-dory with the concept of change except that it is a real challenge to leave behind things that you so loved and replace them with something better. But the real question that the Philosopher- Surbhi wants to ask is that if change /really/ is as good as it is touted to be. Allow me to put forth my arguments. But before that I would like to state that these are my personal opinions and are not intended to hurt anybody's sentiments, so keep control over your melodramatic tendencies please!

The world of music was bombarded a few years back by this sensation known as Arijit Singh. The whole country was in tears to hear his 'sun raha hai na tu, ro raha hu main.' He is the God of unrequited love and Messiah of jilted lovers.
But I personally believe that no matter how advanced the music industry becomes, how much we sway to Ed Sheeran's Shape of you, nothing can replace the old meaningless songs that the Bollywood produced. These are the songs that I remember singing with my cousins whenever there was a power outage and we had nothing to do except play Antakshri. (Can any game on your Playstore replace this good old Antakshri? And just out of curiosity, how many of you sing Tum hi ho instead of Tu cheez badi hai mast mast in the game?)
The other day, one of my friends mocked me for maintaining a diary for all the movies I have watched and books I have read. He said I could do that on IMDB and Goodreads. This is one reason that makes me detest changes. It would break my heart if I even think of giving up on my diary and start a list on IMDB! Uncle Darwin said people like me would be wiped off because we lag behind.

Anyway, this post is not about changes per se. It is about the ridiculous lyrics that the songs back then had. It is about the inexplicable solace that I derive listening to these because they somehow connect me to childhood days when there was neither worry nor care! Life was easy and I was not surrounded by scary-looking & big books on GST or had deadlines to meet or stressed about responsibilities at home. This post is about what these songs are symbolic of - cable TV, video games, postcards & greeting cards, carom board & ludo, Kya aap closeup karte hain, Aahat, B.R. Chopra's Mahabharat every Sunday, Champak and what not.

Here are the songs that make me burst out laughing because of their silly lyrics but these never fail to cheer me up because each time I listen to them, I am like - what were they even thinking. :D (An absolutely irrelevant observation is that these are mostly from the movies of Salman Khan :P well, what else can you expect. :P )
Of course, there are countless such songs but here is a compilation of what I can think of at the moment!

1. Tan Tana Tan Tan Taara
I am unable to choose which lines make me laugh the most - suna hai tere chahne wale, aage dus hain piche barah or Tu meri hai pepsi-cola main tera hu coca cola :D
You got to see whole of it to get the feel of Bollywood rhymes and the dance moves because the song itself says ek baar se dil nahi bharta mud ke dekh mujhe dobara :P
Also, I am not ashamed to admit that I loved the movie Judwaa and it is taking all my willpower to resist adding the other songs from the movie, whether it is East or West, India is the best or Duniya mei aaye ho to love kar lo, thoda sa jee lo thoda thoda mar lo :P

2. Hawa Hawai
Awi Wiwi Wiwi Wiwi, chee ho ho honolulu lu lu, honolulu, Hing bekei Hong Kong king kong, I seenoosi yusiloosi hassi toso, lassi pissi, mombasa, ping pong. Ake chikke lakee chikee.
Enough said!
My favourite lines - Bijli girane main hu aayi, hekte hain mujhko hawa hawai :D

3. Papa kehte hain bada naam karega
Every time I did something stupid or scored low marks, I was made to hear this song at home :D And people wonder how I grew up to be so sarcastic!
My favourite lines - Koi engineer ka kaam karega, business mei koi apna naam karega :P

4. O o Jane Jana
Inception of Salman Khan's shirtless era :P
I like this song because of its peppy beats ! And come on, isn't it universally accepted that it is a crime to ignore a guy with guitar? :P Except the fact that this song has Salman Khan, everything about this song is great !
My favourite lines - not the lines but the guitar at the inception of the song!

5. Ole Ole
This is the musical version of the fact 'Men will be men' :P
You may disagree if you wish but this song has accepted the reality that guys go nuts in vicinity of estrogen-carriers.
My favourite lines - the main lines  jab bhi koi ladki dekhu mera dil diwana bole ole ole ole, ole ole ole :D

6. Choli ke peeche kya hai
Kukukukuk... this one needs no introduction :D
It is one of the most sensuous songs of its time! And Madhuri's dance moves are worth dying for! She alone could do justice to the wonderful beats of this song!
My favourite lines - aashiq pade hain piche, koi idhar ko khinche koi udhar ko khinche :P

7. Na jane kahan se aayi hai
Sridevi's expressions need a standing ovation!
My favourite lines  - Kisi ke hath na aygi ye ladki :D

8. Jumma Chumma
Again, this song has the real touch of what Bollywood represents! It shows the plight of the guy begging the girl for a kiss in a quintessential filmy way ! Listen to this song if you like hardcore hindi music!
My favourite lines - Jumma chumma de de, jumma chumma de de :D

9. Tum par hum hain atke
The lyrics are typical of Bollywood :D
You got to listen to this for its rhyming scheme :P
My favourite lines - Mere bhaiya toh bharwayenge tujhse to pani ke matke :P

10. Kisi disco mei jayein
How could I not include Govinda's songs :D His epic expressions while dancing the weird dance, set this song apart :P This one still leaves people grooving when played on DJ :D
My favourite lines - chalo ishq ladaye, chalo ishq ladaye :D

This is by no means even the tip of iceberg that the Bollywood music industry is! Comment about your songs that crack you up, in the comment box!

Yours sincerely

Veer Ji Viyohn Chaleya :D

In India, when you hear the word 'wedding' all that comes into mind is food, dance and a hell lot of fun with family!

Let me take you on a tour of the saga that a big, fat Indian wedding is ! This post is not a blog on the rituals of a wedding per se (like band-baajaa-baraat) but a fun post on different categories of people one may come across, the nuisance of irksome relatives and my random observations on anything and everything.
(N.B. The satirical content may please be taken in good humour as no mockery is anywhere intended. Randomly funny tweets have been inserted to raise the humour content.)

Part - A

Finally the most awaited wedding of the season! :D

It was special because of the following reasons -

1. It brought all of us together, literally and emotionally as a family, as we (mercifully!) left behind our normal routines and gathered to celebrate with our eldest cousin his most special moment. Spending a few days together brings about a lot of intimacy (this is saying something, coming from an emotionally detached person like me!)

2. The marriage was a welcome change as it merged two different cultures. It renewed my faith in humanity as this was an inter-caste marriage that got culminated after a long fight against the social norms. It proved that love can conquer all obstacles and help us rise above petty stuff like caste-ism. There might be 99 differences among us but that one similarity to love and be loved is what that matters the most.

3. Last but the most important reason for ME - the food was just so delicious that I took three servings of everything. (Yeah, I am a shameless foodie :P) It is an impossible task for me to ignore a delectable paneer tikka or a succulent fruit chaat or a spicy tikki or tantalizing noodles or ambrosial manchurian. Just kidding, the other two reasons made it memorable too :D

But every coin has two sides. For every Harry Potter, there is a Lord Voldemort. For every Batman, there is a Joker. And for every good feeling that you have for yourself -

Part - B

Relatives are real life dementors! Everybody has relatives.  I am also somebody's relative and I am not ashamed to admit that I might be your dementor. But at a wedding, the place is swarming with dementors ! It could be a relative of relative or a friend of relative, the groom's relative or the bride's relative, but I have no qualms about saying this out loud - either with their words, nosy questions or behaviour but koi na koi toh tumhara khoon jala hi dega !

But in general, these are the categories of relatives you are likely to meet at a wedding -

  • Tu to namaste bhi nahi karti
No matter how much you try to escape them, they beat the CBI & FBI and will catch you and accuse you of ignoring them. Desi Liam Neeson!

How to tackle them : There is absolutely no way out. Don se bach sakta hai insaan lekin inse bachna mushkil hi nahi naamumkin hai. Just do a namaste, dude.

  • Agla number tera hai.
Shaadi karwaane mei lage rehne wale rishtedaar. Shaadi na ho gayi oxygen ho gayi by God!
These are mostly the elderly relatives who have a knack of emotionally blackmailing a person by continuously hanging this sword - marne se pehle hum apne par-par-par-par-par-par paute dekhna chahte hain (toh isliye tum bakre ban jao aur latak jao shadi ki sooli pe) the bracket part is silent. But this is so NOT fair. When people who have blissfully lived their own lives hang swords on people who are yet to fulfill their own dreams, it sucks real bad. I might appear harsh and heartless here but everybody deserves to live life their own way even if it means defying the wishes of everybody and anybody!

How to tackle them : Just DON'T budge. At any cost. The hell with people.

  • Foodie
I belong to this category. :D
These are the people who live for food. All they care about at a wedding is that the food should be mouth-watering, aromatic, lip-smacking and heavenly. Traits of such people are - they lose track of conversation while eating, they become irascible if they don't get tasty food, they are friends with people who appreciate food.

How to tackle them : Most probably, such relatives won't disturb you; they'd be too focused on stuffing :P But if they do, their Achilles' heel is F.O.O.D.

  • Nitpicker
Such relatives have a problem with everything. No matter how perfect you try to make arrangements for them, they will find faults with everything and criticise you to the core. Haven't you had any encounter with one such person who has the audacity to question every ritual that you do and tell you that you are doing it wrong or that you missed something? I really have never understood their problem. Why can't they just be happy and share our happiness?

How to tackle them : Ignore them. Big time. And don't go on any guilt trips for doing so. Period.

  • Dancers
What is a marriage without any dancing? :D
Dhol is to punjabis as Sachin Tendulkar is to cricket. Enough said.
Now, dancer relatives may have sub-categories! That chachiji stealing the stage with her thumkas or that  mamaji dancing with fervour along with whistles or that foofaji asking everybody to step aside so that he can do his weird dance. :P

How to tackle them : Well, dance is a shortcut to happiness and happiness mei sabke saare khoon maaf  because everybody deserves to be happy and a wedding is all about happiness :D

  • Mud mud ke na dekh
Everywhere you go, you are bound to meet people who think that God gave them eyes so that they can stare shamelessly especially at girls. Openly checking out creeps the hell out of girls, don't do this please! It is offensive, it is scary, it is violating.
I once asked one of male friends about the same. Why do guys stare so much (I am not saying girls don't do it, it is just that girls do it in a subtle manner.) He answered that imagine you're walking down a road and happen to see a beautiful flower. Would you not look at it? Admire it?
I was mind-blown!
People, please don't objectify women! You want to admire the beauty, do it gently in an unobtrusive manner that doesn't make them freak out!

How to tackle them : No idea. :|

  • Obnoxiously cool relatives
These are the relatives who are really cool because they dress like a mogul and dance like Madhuri Dixit but somehow their nature is obnoxious ! they are either too arrogant or snobbish or a blowhard or egoistic or a gossip-monger or considers himself/herself to be the best adviser on every topic  !

How to tackle them : Ignore, ignore, ignore!

  • Relatives who observe and write a blog about everything
That would be me. :P A narcissist, fun-loving and sarcastic soul :P
How to tackle them: read the blogs and praise a lot :D

Part - C

Dearest Bhaiya,

As I sat watching you taking the vows with your beloved, I couldn't help but remember our childhood days. When we visited you each summer and played from dusk to dawn! There is this particular incident that I remember which says just how sweet a person you are... while you were studying here in Delhi, you visited me once and had gotten Litchi juice for me because you remembered that I love Litchi ! (even though I later told you that I love the fruit and not the juice :P) And even today.. you never forget that I love chocolates and always get me loads #Belgian Chocolates!
You looked one hell of a sight with your gorgeous bride, you are the handsomest groom I have ever seen till now ! You two make a fantastic couple :D May you get loads of happiness and continue to flash your million dollar smile for as many years as the stars in the sky.
Happy Married Life to you two !
God Bless You :)

(Humse hai zamaana sara #the cousin gang :D)

MAKE IT PART OF THE DANCE

As my audit assignment nears its end, I suddenly have copious amount of time to be back to my beloved blog and I thought of writing about my first full-fledged statutory audit which kept me super-busy for about 3 months and which I handled all on my own.

Let me first give a bit of background which would explain why writing about it is important to me.
A statutory auditor's job is to audit the financial statements of an entity and express his/her opinion on the accuracy and fairness of the same. Now to find about accuracy of something, one ought to know what the law and various statutes say about various things...and I am er...not very good at remembering all those sections and stuff...I know, as somebody who is soon going to be a CA, this is  something which could seriously jeopardize my prospects but that doesn't change the fact that I am as good at audit/law as Harry Potter was at potions. So when I was told that I was supposed to handle the statutory audit all on my own, I felt like it was the termination of my articleship because I would do a lousy job and the client would report that to my principal who would then chuck me out. It isn't that I hadn't done any statutory audit before but I hadn't done it ALONE...there is nothing that scares me in the world except a job entrusted to me and done wrongly (read imperfectly)...and so this audit assignment brought back my boggart of 'what if I go all wrong' back....I tried to make someone come along with me but in vain...I lay in my bed, sleepless, dreading the assignment...what if I do it all wrong? WHAT WOULD I DO IF I STUMBLE??
If you stumble, make it part of the dance.
And I found myself treading the memory lane...class 3...I was forced to participate in a group dance competition by my house teacher...if there was anything I hated the most, it was dancing! on the first day of practice, I got scolded really bad which wasn't surprising because I really S.U.C.K.E.D. at dancing. I came back home in tears...when I told at home that I was scolded and didn't want to participate, my mother asked me the reason for the same. "I am scared that I will go wrong...that I will stumble and fall", I told her truthfully.
"If you stumble, make it part of the dance", she said smiling at me.
And all my fears vanquished.
There was no turning back after that. Not only did the teacher (who had scolded me on my first day of practice) acknowledge in front of whole house that I was doing the best in the group but our house stood II in the competition.

If you stumble, make it part of the dance, she had said.
The next morning, I informed my sir that I would be doing the assignment on my own.

And so I began.
But I didn't begin just like that. I was determined to do it with all my heart, to learn as much as possible and to give it my best shot. So I made a few things clear in my head before I dived in -
1. I would set daily targets & weekly targets and adhere to those at any cost.
2. I would aim for  5% improvement and not just take things as they were done the last year... that is when I leave, my work should be at least 5% better than my predecessor.
3. I would do it not for the sake of doing it but because I truly, really, sincerely wish to learn something out of it.
4. I would try to be like my father - professional to the core.

So my new anthem became -
If a task has once begun, never leave it till it's done.
Be the labor big or small, do it well or not at all.

The job was huge. There were a lot of companies, 20 contractors, a trust and finally a sole proprietorship that I had to audit. Then there was the tax audit u/s 44AB and also a report on transfer pricing to be prepared.
I began with the contractors. One by one, I finished the contractors...ledger scrutiny...their tax computation...their tax audit...
The companies...6 of them...CARO(Companies Auditor's Report order)...calculation of MAT(Minimum Alternate Tax)...computation of tax liability...tax audit u/s 44AB ...
The sole proprietorship...the biggest of them all!
Finally the transfer pricing report.

I am sparing you all the technical details of all this, no need to thank me for that :P
For I am not writing this blog to feed you CA stuff but because I wanted to share my own experience of the adage - the best way is always through.
Yes, I was hell scared of not being able to meet the deadline with all that work and my daily coaching alongside. 3months passed in whirls of time - I lost track of things, I was out of touch with most of the world. I was often so tired by the time I got back home that I had no time or the energy to exercise which took toll on my health. I got skin allergy because of the pollution and smoke that the factories emit out there 24x7. But none of this mattered because nothing in the world can compare to the happiness and high that a tallied balance sheet gives !!! Yes, there were mistakes but I was able to rectify them all and match the balance sheet on my own.  For the first time in my life, I was actually learning some real life application of what I always studied in the confined walls of my classroom and 'puked' out on answer sheets in the confined walls of examination center,..and all by myself.
The 'all by myself' part is highly significant.
It isn't that I was highly dependent on people around me; I could do my work decently but now that I have done the work myself, I have realized that it gave me a strange sense of freedom... It is easy to run to others but the freedom that standing and doing it on your own gives is ineffable...the confidence that it has instilled in me is probably one of those things that they say you don't realize was missing until it finally arrives. But the most important of all was that it reinforced what I was always taught as a child -
If you don't know, the thing to do is not to get scared, but to learn.
Turning back, I feet that the best way to overcome fear is to look at your own past experiences and realize that it was futile to have all these fears!

There is this funny incident that I would like to narrate...while doing one of the companies, I got stuck somewhere. No matter how much I tried, I just could not understand where I had gone wrong because not even my trial balance was tallying, forget the balance sheet ! So I had to ask my father. He could not find the mistake either but he commented that my work was LOUSY ! he said that it lacked proper format and that things were all haphazard in there! the comment pierced right through my vein like some bestial injection spreading indignation in my blood, not because he had commented but because he was unable to find the mistake in my work and yet conclude that it was lousy ! Like father, like daughter - I snatched away my pen drive out of the laptop and told him that I would speak to him only after I had corrected my mistake and tallied the balance sheet. He burst out laughing. I didn't take his call the whole day, worked hard and tallied the balance sheet and mailed him. I then called him up and he laughed again ! but after an hour or so, I got a mail from him with the subject 'improved balance sheet' and saw that he had made several changes that had nothing to do with the fundamentals and everything to do with the presentation of the balance sheet !  It is impossible to beat him at CA-ism :P :D

Moral : Anything that I've done that was ultimately worthwhile initially scared me to death...Life begins where your comfort zone ends.
P.S.
Because of this audit, I displeased a lot of people - I was unable to be a part of their birthday parties and I know that they all believe that I always try to weasel my way out as I am not very fond of social obligations but I swear, this time I was really going bonkers due to the workload...Although I can't deny that I enjoyed the hours that I spent doing the work more than I 'd have enjoyed sitting idly in some mall ! :P

24 Things That You Didn't Know About Dr Amit Makkar

pre script :
often,on our way to success and happiness,we take for granted, the people who stand behind us,supporting us silently...though we respect their care and love from the core of our heart but we fail to appreciate it...to acknowledge it...but these wonderful people don't ask for any kind of acknowledgement...they just stand behind you, motivating you to go on..I don't really believe that words or any actions are needed to show that they mean a lot to you but why take the risk of waking up one day and realising that those important persons are no more a part of your life because they felt their care was no longer needed...
so this is my silly way(what else could you expect..i mean the title of my blog is ROFL) of expressing my heartfelt gratitude for somebody to whom I owe my everything...
expressing emotions publicly is not my cup of tea..so these 24 crazy things...these 24 points (since it's his 24th birthday) are a compilation of what makes my brother and me the craziest siblings ever...because this is the way I like US- total understanding, little arguments, more love and even more care...
the satire and sarcasm is meant solely for entertainment :D

1. 28.4.1992…the day I was born,he had his first day at school…and he chose to go to school and didn't come to meet his little sister !!! it hurt so much that I cried like crazy (not that I could do anything else at that time :P) LKG class ka first day tha,it isn’t that he had his CA exams ! but that is how diligent he is about his work !

2.He was named Ambuj but I don’t know why it was later changed to Amit ! our maternal relatives still call him ambuj and it sounds so classy ! and it’s so apt for the kind of bond that I share with him- ye deewaar toot'ti kyu nahi...tootegi kaise...viraat compressive strength wale AMBUJa cement se jo bani hai :D

3.He is doing his specialization in pedodontics…that is child specialist…so befitting as he is great with kids ! he has been acclimatized to enduring a obstinate, pampered, garrulous and non-sensical kid (read surbhi makkar ) since ages :D in his own words,”4years k patients aate hain mere pas and shaanti se injection lgwaate hain but surbhi k aage injection ka naam lo sahi and it’s pandemonium ! “  he says to me when I go into my  main-nhi-lgwa-rahi-injection panic attack, that divert your mind, stop thinking about the needle ! how can anybody think about anything else when that shiny pointed bestial thing is going into the vein ?! he's insane ! doctor kisne bana diya pta nahi ! :P

4. He has always been swarmed by girls !!! As a kid,i always got confused between the SHAs of his class- isha, nisha, alisha, anisha, nimisha etc ! in college,he had 32 girls in his class vis-a-vis 8 boys and in his post-grad,he is the only guy in the whole department ! (if ever my iitian friends get to know of these statistics, they would die of shock/jealousy :D)

5.I love to irritate him :D it’s my fav hobby ! these epic lines that he finally utters when it gets past endurance, totally make my day - “surbhi ko smjhaa lo”
“drama krwa lo bas”
“ek kaam kaho sahi,100 toh sawaal puchti hai jinme se ek bhi kaam ka nhi hota” (this is my personal fav :D)

6.As a kid,he endured my cheating tactics in all the games that we played…cricket, badminton, carrom, ludo anything ! that was because I always made the rules to suit my convenience – jab tak 3 bar out nahi hoti, main out nahi maani jaungi,no run out or one-tip catch allowed in my case :P and if I got out( within the limits of my rules, that is),I always used to come up with “main ready nahi thi, this is not fair” :D and when everything else failed and I still was on verge of losing the game,I used to shake the board(ludo/carrom) and ruin the game :D but he was so sweet (he still is!) that he only laughed it off !

7.He is a superb dancer ! no party is complete without his Punjabi dance :D

8.He loves to watch television ! that may be due to the fact that he doesn’t have a tv in his hostel.so when he comes home,he gets glued to the tv screen ! and I am made to watch silly things such as news (aajtak for god’s sake !!!) and ridiculous hindi movies whose names I haven’t heard in my lifetime ! and CID toh aise dekhta hai jaise ye ho gaye ACP pradyuman and hum ho gaye criminal jo agar na dekhne de tv toh hame toh *acp’s signature hand movement*phaansi hogi, phaansi !!! :P

9.He is an amazing cook ! so when he comes home from hostel,it’s party time for me ! :D I get to eat noodles, cake, pasta, pizza and stuff  that is cooked by him ! :D kitchen,in my case,is a territory I rarely venture into :P

10.He has this silly habit of bigaadofying all the songs !!! kabhi kabhi aditi becomes kabhi kabhi surbhi…Saturday Saturday becomes Sunday Sunday :D so lame !

11.His modus operandi – look for things that he needs…nhi milegi (I swear he got buttons instead of those eyes ! even if the thing is kept right under his nose,he doesn't see it !) then, “surbhiiiii !!!”  when I help him find whatever he’s looking for,I ask him twice to keep it back at its right place…obviously he doesn’t…then again,”surbhiiiiiii !!!” (surbhi na ho gyi google ho gyi !)

12.His knack of losing things is simply bizarre…wallet, mobile, imp papers…you name it and chances are that he’s lost it at one time or the other ! :P let me illustrate…he keeps his mobile on top of the car while locking it(who on earth does that?!),locks the car, goes to a restaurant and has a delectable dinner, comes back and laughs like a hyena to see a phone kept on top of the car and exclaims that kitne budhu hote hain log ptani kahan kahan phn rakh dete hain, till he realizes that it’s his own phone :D (courtesy akhil gupta)

13.My habit of fussing over every little thing is matched only by his perfect insouciance :P whenever he has to go somewhere,I go berserk (“charger daala hai k nhi…belt..brush..socks” basically everything under the sun) but he still manages to forget something or the other ! deo/keys if it’s a normal day and his admit card if he has an exam !!! (respect,dr amit makkar.)

14.He never compromises with three things in his life ! health, work and looks ! he makes sure he is always well groomed and presentable(unlike me,who was fascinated by the object called mirror only when I was studying about the laws of reflection in physics :P) he has the best collection of deo that I have ever seen :D  perhaps this explains point 4 :P

15.He is not one of those doctors who would be buried in the books 24x7…he keeps up with the trends ! that’s a pic from his fresher’s day,he is the one in the blue t shirt…do not miss his baggy cargo jeans(those were in fashion that time) the stud in his ear and the spikes that he’s sporting for the occasion !

16.Since he’s trendy, he makes sure I don’t lag behind…70% of my wardrobe comprises of things gifted by him, with or without any reason :P

17.Whenever he goes for shopping to buy stuff for ME,he comes out with at least one t-shirt of his own …only after I make him see sense that it was supposed to be MY shopping, does he reject the other two t-shirts that he had liked (okay this may be going over the board but he does that often! He starts selecting his own stuff even if it’s my bday shopping!!! )

18.I really really envy his sleep ! while I keep tossing and turning in bed for hours,he falls asleep in a jiffy ! when I am excited/tense/sad/happy,no matter what the state of my mind,it takes me minimum 1hour to calm my intractable mind while he enjoys his dreamless sleep !

19.He never ever switches off the lights! Kabhi bhul kar galti se bhi charger/lights/fans off nahi karta ! so if earth runs out of electricity someday, you know who to blame :P

20.He is diurnal while I am nocturnal..i have failed to understand to this day how can he manage to sleep so peacefully at night when he has half his syllabus left for the exam scheduled next day! Even if I try to sleep at night,I have dreams that make me sick and I get out of bed and start revising  (I call this the Hermione-syndrome) :p

21.He has always instilled a positive sense of competition in me…i was able to do things that I thought I would not be able to when I saw him accomplishing them…that’s how I learnt dance and computer languages…

22.He is my calmness tonic…his sangfroid is something I have always been in awe with…like water puts off fire, the rage and jitters of a taurean have always been controlled by this composed aquarian…his presence alone takes away half my worries…I don’t know how he manages it but he has a way of handling my crappy mood swings…only a few people possess this talent :P

23.He is a very loving person..and this is an understatement…as an elder brother,he is so caring that words would not suffice if I tried putting it into words…I am the aggressive one, always sulking while he never gets tired of cheering me up…as a kid,I even used to hit him(though it hardly hurt him and I was seen with a crepe bandage for the next few days:P) but time/situations/circumstances  have taught me to keep my anger under control so I try to be a good girl now :D

24.There is this silly memory ..which nobody but he and I can understand :P i watched jaane tu ya jaane na with him…and the last scene (when imran calls after genelia- meow meow-that was her nickname in the movie,to stop her) had made us both laugh like crazy…and I don’t know why I really liked the sound of the word- meow :P when I am in no mood to ans him,I say meow :P something like this-
i. bhai :SomethingOfUrgentImportance
  surbhi: meow
ii.bhai : SomethingThatRequiresMyAttention
 surbhi : meow
finally,(this is the best part,his expression)he says,meow meow krti rahiyo !!!:P

I would like to end  with a song from the same movie (jaane tu ya jaane na) cuz it kinds of sums it all up-
main bolun kitna saara,tu bole zara zara
main bolun din hai toh,tu bole raat nahi
main sochun tu hi tu,mera koi aur nahi
tu soche main hu tera, bas tera koi aur nahi
koi aur ho ya na ho,tu hai main hu,bas
jaane tu…jaane tu ya jaane na
maane tu….maane tu ya maane na !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,bhai :) you rock :D
you are awesome.period.
thank you for tolerating me all these years..do so for a lot many years because that's your punishment for not coming to meet me on my first day on this earth :D

p.s.
A. though all of this was my idea,it would not have been possible without kanika's help who scanned the pics for me.
B. manan and agamya have a role too..because when i see them fighting as well as caring for each other,i am reminded of the two of us...esp when manan says to his parents "ye itni shaitaan si agamya hi mili thi apko!" :P
